I have seen the book in question and have kind of read through it (skimmed). And for something like this, I don't think you can blame him if it doesn't work, because what he says is true and I'm sure if you follow it you'll have desired results.
He seems to focus more on the mental side of things on how to succeed rather than heaps of physical work. And really, if you take it seriously and try some of the weird way he helps clear your mind, I'm sure it would be beneficial.
There's also the whole "you need to take your first step before you can run a mile" lesson. It may take some time but if you start out small, you can make something big over time.
