There are a variety of intestinal parasites: giardia, tapeworms, amoebas, hookworms, roundworms, and others. My mom picked an amoeba while traveling in a third world country and lived with it for months before seeing a doctor. (Meaning that it didn't go away on its own...)

Maybe, maybe not. Combined with the tiredness in the afternoon reported in the other thread, an intestinal parasite certainly seems possible. Whether the assumption is right or wrong, this is a case where he should see a doctor.
