I've decided against a free trial period, because it basically negates the gatekeeper of my for-pay service and plays in the hands of cheaters (who can just keep registering new accounts).

I personally don't have the resources to keep such people out and neither do I want to put extra security burdens on the people who do pay. That's just stupid, like putting FBI warnings and an "Don't pirate movies" ad on every legally purchased DVD... *sigh*

I have plenty of free content for people to get an idea of what they'll be buying and I'll have a good refund policy - that should be enough for prospecting buyers, I think.
