MLM is just a marketing technique... you didn't mention any specifics, but if you feel you had to "force the opportunities down the throats" of people, I'm guessing you were not all that passionate about the product. I think that is key to succeeding in MLM, or anything really.
Anyway, there are tons of other opportunities on the Internet which you didn't mention. Have you tried any of the following (off the top of my head):
- developing web sites for PPC/affiliate/in-text advertising income (probably the most popular idea in this forum)
- developing web sites to turn around resell
- developing software and selling online
- writing e-books and selling online
- starting an online store (use drop shipping to lower costs, or be an e-bay seller)
- acquiring and re-selling domain names (becoming a "domainer" as they call them)
- acquiring books and other content whose copyrights have expired and re-selling online (I just read about this on one of the many business magazines I subscribe to... sorry I forgot which one).
By the way, you DO NOT need programming or hard technical skills to do any of the above. Programmers are a dime a dozen, thanks to the massive wave of knowledge workers coming online in India, China, and other parts of the world... (which is one reason I'm becoming an entrepreneur after being a coder for 9 years

. Just go to a place like rentacoder or scriptlance to find a programmer to implement your project.
What you absolutely do need to succeed at any opportunity are ideas and marketing skills, the 2 things which really cannot be outsourced and is what being an entrepreneur is all about.
Which leads me to this final thought... you asked what online opportunities are out there and I gave you several ideas. But what is stopping you from creating your own opportunities? Leverage the Internet. Leverage all the experience you gained by doing what you've done. Nothing is a failure if you learn from it and can apply the knowledge to something else.
Maybe you could even share your experiences with others who are struggling with the same things... but in a POSITIVE way, your post sounds so negative that I felt I had to respond. In fact, this is my FIRST post in this forum, so I guess your negative post at least had one positive result
