I don't believe our lives are predetermined too but I think what he explained about time is possible. Think of it this way...
You know what you did when you were a child, the steps you would take as a child but does that mean his fate was pre-determined already? Not at all... He still has choice but it's lead to this point. My gut feeling tells me that these people predict your future based on your current position, but once you know... it's possible to change it.
There's a major problem with fate, if it were true and we can't change our paths. Then what's the point of personal development including ethics and morality when our actions can just purely be justified by "it was meant to happen"
