Seriously though, everyone is psychic or has the capability to be psychic. Don't let the word trip you up. You're clairaudient. You can hear your guides and possibly spirits talking to you. It's a wonderful gift.
Yes spontaneous communication can occur. Happens to me a lot.
They may not be coming through during meditation because you're trying too hard. Are you quieting your mind or are you doing something more visual? If you are just quieting your mind it's like pulling a curtain around yourself and taking the phone off the hook. The guides see that as "shhhh, she's meditating, no one disturb her."
