I agree that if you are detoxing so hard after such a short fasting period that your diet may be to blame. I've found it easier to begin fasting after eating a very light, cleansing diet of fruits and vegetables for a few days to a week prior to starting the fast. The "mini fast" between meals is good; you could continue that approach as an ease into fasting after cleaning up your diet. If your diet is already clean you may want to look into fasting on fresh green juices (kale, spinach, romaine, etc.). I always feel very energized after a half-day fast on green juices followed by a good dinner of raw veggies, steamed squash and/or fish.
