Honey,
My problem started after my first East Coast winter in NYC, moved there in January 2004 one of the coldest winter they had on record, stayed four months and moved right back to the west coast turned my heater on and I have never turned it off since then.

I was back in NY last year in January for 2 weeks the cherry blossoms were blooming and I took naps in the sun when Manhattan was 70 degrees, did not need any of the heavy snow gear I took. It was heaven. Other than that crazy global warming moment, the only times I visit NY is September, love autumn, no autumn here, and late spring, any other time it is just insane (for me that is).

By the way, after that warm summer January in NY I returned to SF to below freezing temps (record temps), I had snow boots and a down coat on (though there was no snow but I simply unpacked my NYC gear).

So I have cross that east coast off my list, but I do love NYC.

Thanks
