I'm not sure I agree with this idea that everything is laid out, and we can't change the course of our lives, or that what we do today, will have no effect on tomorrow. Though I can see the shift in consiousness thing and stepping out of subjective-time, as being credible; still, I think we have 'free-will' for a reason.
Otherwise, it's like if I choose to go out and rob a bank in the morning, or not, that will have no bearning on my future self, in one years' time?
