I can tell you from absolute personal experience that brainwave technology is very real. Biofeedback is very real. The power of the mind is very real.
The mind has the power to completely alter the reality around you (or at the very least your perception of it). You can heal yourself with it, you can harm yourself with it, you can do "supernatural" things, simply by thinking about it in the right "frame of mind".
There are technologies that help induce the correct brainwave activity that makes people more able to do these types of things. I was a very real part of the infancy of this science. I learned how to slow my heartrate by listening to a beep and matching my pulse to the sound. I could enter altered states of consciousness by controlling the type of brainwaves I was emitting (alpha, theta, beta, delta, etc.) All these things are scientifically verifiable.
All this was back in the '70's. I can only imagine the lengths to which it has been developed today. My mother has since gotten out of the R&D realm and now assists surgeons by monitoring brain activity during neuro surgery, so my link to that aspect of science has dried up.
That being said, I am equally sure that there are a lot of people out there who will tout this technology as a sure-fire way to do whatever. And that is NOT the case. You still have to do the work. You still have to make it happen. These things only help you get to a mental space that makes it easier.
I'm very dubious of any company selling anything, but that goes triple for those that claim something "miraculous" is possible simply by buying their product. |
Thanks for the feedback. I have long been a believer of bio-feedback, since I first learned about it, back in the 70's. I never did it, but it makes perfect sense to me. I always wanted to do it, but haven't. I understand how you can learn to induce different brain waves that way.
This process is different than biofeedback. Even less to do. It supposes that the brain itself will mimic the resultant frequencies being fed into it through the ears. Lets say you want theta waves ( ~35 hz or somethign like that I think ). Maybe the frequency in one ear is set to 200hz and the other ear is set to 165 hz. According to this, the brain tends to subtract the difference and hear a sort of harmonic at 35 hz, and then will adjust it's own waves to that frequency.
There supposedly is a lot of long term science behind it, and it does make sense to me.
I too am hesitant about some of the ones I've seen that have a different cd for all different kinds of visualizations or states of being etc... But a simple brain wave trainer seems plausible to me.
