First of all, if you eat meat that came from a factory farm you are supporting brutality. Just as if you but clothes that are made by little kids in china you are supporting that too. And, most meat in the US comes from factory farms.
Second is that you are missing the point. You have taken the example as the idea. If you don't agree with the example that's fine, but it's not what he was writing about.
Also I believe that you are taking the "light" and "dark" to judgmentally. These are not value judgments, just words. He is not saying good person, bad person. He could just have well said "pinkworker vs blueworker."
