Science is a disciplined method of searching out understandings of how we and our world works. It does not ask who or why. It evolved from religion and philosophy, and gives us a more relevant concept for surviving and dealing with our world. After the Newtonian physics, many scientists saw the world as being only material and of a mechanical nature; now, as they probe the "stuff" matter is made from, they are discovering that it cannot be purely mechanical. Many physicists, particularly quantum scientists, are opening their minds to the idea of a conciousness connected with the creation of matter from "energy". Of course, this will not satisfy people who cling to the idea of a separate god who thinks and speaks as we do.
