I have also wondered about how the divine plan fits into my life and where my life leads. I have not consciously sought awakening, but have always seemed to find myself on the path. Why? I don't know, but it always seems to lead there. When I read this forum, I often ask myself, why am I here. Of course, I'm interested, but it is not a goal. My goal has been to find inner peace. I love Tolle and his teachings, but still my goal is not to truly reach enlightenment.
I am also at a crossroads in my career and this question seems relevant. Before getting into IT, I was in the alternative therapy industry. After a tough life situation, I decided I did not have the right energy to continue and suddenly found myself in IT. I love IT. A wise friend told me, I studied alternative therapy to get through the life situation I mentioned.
I took a temporary break to explore another passion and now that I'm back in the job search, I am finding it tough to get a job. Recently, I met someone and he asked me to come work for him in the alternative therapy industry. Go figure. It was a chance meeting and a random conversation. Somewhere, in the back of my mind, I ask, which path should I take. Perhaps, my spirit is not into me working in IT.
Sure, I believe the ego creates suffering, but I also feel there is a divine meaning/plan to some of our suffering or experiences. There are many lessons to experience from being unconscious. Intuition has reached my ego states and this could be spirit guiding me.
Re. knowing if your spirit in onboard... perhaps, the difficulty of achieving goals or intentions is an indication of not having Spirit's buy-in??? If something it is easy, then I would say, spirit is on board. Having said that perhaps spirit is also on board with experiencing a difficult relationship or whatever it is in life that is a struggle. It seems it is not part of the plan for us to know.
