It can be shown that the law of gravity seems to be true based on empirical results. However, it can not be proven (i.e. like in mathematics). As odd as it sounds, just because gravity seems to work right now does not mean it will work tomorrow. How can you prove that it will? Moreover, have you tested gravity in every situation, in all times, everywhere in the universe? It would be strange, but there could be a situation where it doesn't work. You just know that it seems to work in all the situations you have been in and tested it. Certain assumptions must be made.
