I agree Brian.
I stumbled upon the "tearing up" one years ago when I was really depressed about a breakup I was going through.
Once I tore up the photos I had of her, I was amazed how much better I felt and was able to move on a lot faster.
I now use that trick when something negative starts going through my mind. I'll write down the thought on a piece of paper and then tear it up. It works great for me.
