I try to avoid the smalltalk and get straight to the emotional part of the person, from the icebreaker itself.
Just look at their expression, if you can't find an expression just make up one. The best is the concerned type.
"Hey you look a bit down everything alright?" something like that (english is my second language, I can't really translate it from my language)
if the person looks joyful, display envy.
"Wow! So the sun does actually rise for some people"
Then they look at you wierdly and you explain yourself casually.
Its important to appear confident, and have a confident posture AND the best smile you can wield otherwise this technique will backfire. It works both as a PU line and as a way to make friends. Well at least for me it does (I haven't met that defensive crancky ♥♥♥♥♥/SOB yet)
