I like both of your analyses... I just don't exactly know how to connect with my guides, or maybe I just don't know how to differentiate between my higher self and my guides. I have become pretty good and consulting my higher self, and knowing when it's her and when it's my ego masquerading as my higher guide.
I tried to meet them once in a meditation, and one was a young girl and she said her name was "Angela." I think it's actually "Angelina," my maternal grandmother I never met...that name often pops into my head. Then again, it has 'angel' in it...lol...
