I really appreciate the time you took to answer my question...and I hope I didn't derail the thread, but I guess it is important to know exactly what a "guide" is...actually, I would be curious to know what you thought of guides--are they real? That is, in the contractual sense? Or, do you believe we interpret angels to be guides, and ancestors to be guides, but we don't have--necessarily--specific individual guides?
I only ask because I definitely have a relationship with my benefactor, as you call it, and somewhat with some ancestors, those I have and have not met, but I don't know where or how to find guides. I only know they're there.
