Yes you can send angels to help your friend. However it is ideal if they ask themselves. I know that angels can't/don't interfere unless they are asked for help.
One of the best ways to protect yourself from conscious negative entities is to simply raise your level of consciousness. Once you get into the courage level it's much harder for them to affect you. And once you get to love, joy, compassion, and gratitude their intentions bounce off you like you're shielded.
Becoming a conscious being of the light is the best defense against the conscious beings of the dark.
