Yep, kinda of a rebound, but with a good person. I knew her well and apparently she had pursued me a bit (that's what my friends told me, I was oblivious fixated on my gf)

Well if I understand the ?, I was not prepared to share my ex, so if she was going to date other guys, it was over between us. As far as I was concerned, I wanted to be the best I could since I couldn't be enough for my ex.
I was devastated by my ex's matter of fact attitude concerning our dating (her) other people. Suppose I've always been "old fashioned"
