I agree with both viewpoints in a way. Sometimes I get frustrated with myself because I can see something I do that I don't like, and I know the solution, but something holds me back. Or sometimes I just can't figure out the source of a problem, and it helps to have someone tell you what you already "know".
For me it has helped to have a best friend who is very insightful, as well as a therapist. Sometimes I am so close to myself that I can't see the problem or the solution clearly. Did that make sense? I mean it in this way: Sometimes you are too meshed into a situation to see the big picture, so you have to separate yourself from it, or get the opinion of someone who is already separate from it (like a friend or counselor).
