Michelle,
I don't disagree with Erin in any way and I think her suggestion is a fine one.
Here is another thought:
We all need balance in our lives. It sounds like you've been running on fumes with your spiritual development for several months. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but if you've been neglecting the other three aspects of your being, it would make sense that you're getting some messages that things need to change.
Try this:
Draw a circle on a piece of paper. Put a cross through the middle of the circle - one line up and down and one side to side. Mark out the four cardinal points with Mind at the top, Spirit to the right, Heart at the bottom, and Body to the left. Do it in that order, moving sunwise around the circle.
Now along those lines within the circle put a mark where you think you are with that aspect of your life. Now, connect the dots.
In a perfect world, you'd have a circle within your circle. It doesn't matter what size the circle is, this is all about balance. So, if you're not particularly engaged in any aspect of your life, you'd have a small - but balanced - circle. That's fine (for a while).
I would suspect, based on what you're saying that you will have a very lopsided circle with your Spirit being way out of proportion with the rest. Depending on how you see this experience, you may choose to call this awakening a part of your Mind. That's fine too. Whatever makes sense to you.
Once you've gotten your results, it's time to decide what to do about it. Take the path of least resistance. For instance, if you're very high on one aspect and the other three are pretty much the same, then back off the one that's high. If you have two high and two low, you have a choice to make: Increase the low scorers or decrease the high scorers. Again, the whole point is to bring balance into your life, not "set the curve on personal development."
If you practice meditation or prayer, I would reccommend going out and collecting some cedar (or juniper depending on where you live) boughs. Do this in a respectful way, asking with your heart if the tree is willing to sacrifice part of itself for you. Listen with your heart and see if you feel an affirmation. If so, collect a few boughs and offer your thanks for the tree's sacrifice. If you have some, offer some tobacco in thanks (any time you take something, you should give something and tobacco is a very sacred plant)
During your meditations/prayers, or just before, strip the small needles from the stems and place them in a mortar and pestle. Grind them to a fine powder (you should create about two to three teaspoons of powder) in the mortar and pestlel and burn it as incense over an incense coal.
Cedar is a great Ally to bring balance to your life. Grinding the cedar will help you absorb that medicine and burning the cedar will clear your environment of all the negative energies that have built up there.
