It sounds like dreaming to me. I've often had part of a dream still lurking around when I am getting up. And it seems like I am watching or listening to a movie. I would think this might be your case, view those words as part of how you dream.

P.P.S. I recently came up with an idea on how to distinguish between my thoughts and these apparently incoherent random words/sentences. If the thoughts follow what I am currently thinking about, or are generated by an external stimuli, then, they are my own, but if they come randomly, then they are not.
This makes me think those words are more like a dream state coming through. Often my dream content seems incoherent and random to my consciousness. But then - you still get to play with: what are dreams trying to tell me?

I don't know, you could be channeling entities - But I've only heard voices that weren't me a couple times and that was during meditations not during waking up or around sleep. It didn't need to go through a test to figure out it was someone else /some other being speaking - it was really apparent and actually they may have been saying something I was thinking about as like having a conversation with me. In other words your test of distinguishing "your thoughts"/"not your thoughts" by "following you"/"being random" isn't a good test and probably isn't needed. You would know if it's not you.
