Not sure about that idea personally. My Mother in laws new partner always wears a beige suit with a dickie bow and white shirt. The kids always ask why Grandad never wears anything else - they don't notice that he has lots of beige suits and they change slightly.
I will have a navy skirt with several different tops that go with it.
And I still choose ties for my husband when he goes for interviews. My 9yr old daughter chooses his regular ones as she has a very good sense of colour!
