Hey, I am new to fasting and think its a great idea. One thing besides the physical benefits I like is the fact that you are proving how little the body really needs to survive at times. An important part of fasting is that you give up "luxuries" and give back to the community by helping others. The time of fasting shoud be of brotherhood and cheerful service to others. Once you really understand that it becomes so much more.

By the way, how does not eating for an extended period of time affect the body? You are still burning calories, they must be coming from somewhere? It must be from the body. Maybe fat. Is this a health problem? How do you know when it becomes too long? Also, is there any benefits of water fasting over juice fasting? Didn't Jesus fast for forty days in the desert? That's pretty sweet.
