I've been considering stockpiling some water, food, and medicine in the basement - just in case.
Stockpile water, food, and medicine because you choose to. Don't do it because of a imagined future event. If you feel moved right now to stock up on a few things, go ahead, but put no reasoning behind it. Maybe in a month or two you'll say, "time to clean out the basement" and get rid of it all.

There might actually be an event coming soon, and you're getting the inkling to support yourself for that event -- much like the animals in Thailand got to high ground before the tsunami hit. The event may never come (things can always take a different course) and you'll have a basement full of stuff, and the mind will say "what a waste that was" when actually you were being very responsive to something in your awareness in that moment.
