The lycopene argument often gets pulled out of the bag, but is there any evidence that anyone is suffering from a lycopene deficiency?

Perhaps a tomato has the right amount of lycopene compared to the enzymes available that we can digest. Also, you may get more lycopene when you cook a tomato, but what other nutrients are you destroying by denaturing them? If you want more lycopene from a tomato then all you have to do is break down the cell walls (which is why cooking makes it available), Steve has a vitamix so if he chucks a couple of tomatos into a raw soup then bingo - more lycopene available




However I do agree with you than more protein might be useful and when Steve relaxes the rules after the 30 day trial, he might consider adding hemp protein powder, or hulled hempseeds or seaweeds to add some more protein to his diet if he stays with it.
