You know when you look at things from a different angle you can enjoy lots of different things in life that other people would view as a difficult time. For example when my Dad was terminally ill I was really grateful to have the time to say goodbye and treasure every last minute. I have wonderful memories of that time that nobody can take from me. I could have spent the time being miserable instead I chose to make the most of it. Today I have memories of the happy times we had, even in those last moments of life. Many times my Mum reminds me how I got it so right. I organised things like a family photo, picnics at the beach, a meal out with the whole extended family and a very spontaneous celebration of my parents 40th wedding anniversary when I realized my Dad would not make the actual day. He died 5 weeks before the date but my Mum said afterwards she felt as though we had celebrated. I got a cake which said 40 years together. It was really funny as I crept out of the house at 7am and found a bakery and florist, then a supermarket that were open. Nobody even realized I had left the house so it really was a total surprise. We took the party to his bedside as he my Dad was too ill to come downstairs. I can't tell you how much it meant to all of us.

Life is for living to the full
