Which is a better self-development book - "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" or "101 Great Vegetarian Recipes"? "Rich Dad Poor Dad" or "How to Install Wordpress"?

One of my longest running frustrations with the self-help field is that "feel good motivation" and "actionable resources" are often kept separate.

The pump you get from reading self-help books isn't unlike nicotine, it fades quickly and you're left searching for the next hit. At least with a text of some sort (something that creates a new ability / talent you didn't have before) you are truly left with a measurable improvement over simply feeling better and having a nicer attitude.

Look for books that require you to achieve something besides just listing what you would like to achieve.
