I also find it helps to control what I have in the house. When I eat a pound of carrots or a pint of frozen yogurt, it's not nearly as bad as eating a pound of Snickers or a pint of ice cream. And if I feel so icky and depressed that I actually go and get a pint of ice cream, well, at least I had to walk to Safeway and back.
