If you feel your safety is threatened, tell him over the phone or in a public place that you're quitting the relationship. I don't think you made it clear in your earlier posts why you feel threatened or why you are afraid to "provoke" him. He doesn't really seem to be pursuing you ardently, from what you've described. Did we miss something?
If it's your intuition telling you to be careful, listen to it!
