Don't be a spammer first and foremost. If you have a product or opportunity, refrain from the urge to slather it everywhere on your profile. Put it where it is relevant! Then honestly fill out your profile with all the things you like to do and are interested in. Be real, because you are real, aren't you?
Find people that fit into what you are looking for, then message them and start forming relationships with them. Bring up the product or opportunity when it is relevant.
