Epiphany, what's probably happening is that you're handing her your power by trying to help her when she probably just wants to complain. People who try to take your power consciously do it more with intimidation and control. But in her case, you are opening yourself up to her probably out of a desire to help her and then her energy is seeping into your auric field. She's probably feeding off your higher vibration energy.
My advice is usually to stay away from such people; at the very least I would not live with a person like that. Secondly, if she tries to give you the evil eye just imagine a mirror in between you and reflect it right back to her. That's psychic self defense 101 stuff.
