Indeed helping others is good ...

My Lifes purpose is to find out what is good and do things the best way I know at the time.

I find when trying to do good things I'm much happier than when just doing whatever I feel like doing.

Steve has often mentioned multiple perspectives and I find that trying to look at things from the perspective of myself in a years time to be very useful for determining what is good.

Recently I've started striving towards building a school in nepal through the room to read charity Room To Read - Kiwi School and the future perspective is quite helpful when deciding whether I should buy things I want.

Imagine myself in a years time having spent thousands of dollars on every little thing I want at the time; new guitar, fancier food, a faster car. After my past experiences in life I know that obtaining these things will not do any lasting good for my life or the lives of others.

Or I could give up all of these little luxuries and do something to help others like build the school in nepal. Definitely high potential for a lasting improvement in my life and others.

When walking through the supermarket feeling like buying that fancy steak or whatever a quick mental journey to the future will give me quite a different outlook from "boy that steak sure does look good".
