It could be that you have some larger goal that becoming a Structual Engineer would serve well, or, it might be that being a Structual Engineer is kind of a dead end for you, fun but not serving a larger purpose that you care about. A good thing to do is always to gather more information. If you think you still might be drawn to being a Structual Engineer, spend the day with one as he or she does their work. Ask questions ("what do you like about your work?") Actually being with someone as they work will give you a lot more insight than just reading about it will.
