I understand that. We are habitual. The way that habits are created is by our will. but then we forget our habits. Having a decision is the first part of retraining the gray matter. Then sticking to a descision is what gives our brains a chance to learn something else. Either way, you are right - it's not just saying "stop this or stop that" that brings change - it's actively doing something else. If you don't do something else the habits will continue as is.
So then to tell someone to wake up, is to tell them to find excitment or decide that you choose to do something and want to continue with that choice by deciding to apply some optimism consciously instead of wallowing in any habits that are old and contrary. Or choose to think you didnt choose to pursue something that you are pursueing half a$$ed and wallow in apathy.
