Ask if the reading has helped you, not whether it is something that would apply to millions of poeple.
For example, if you went to a psychic and he/she connected to your spirit and your question was "What is the most important thing I need to focus on in 2008?" and the psychic answered "Your health.", does it really matter that millions of other people need to focus on their health too?
If you believed in psychic abilities, no. If you were still just trying to "test" the psychic, then "health" would be a really generic thing that could apply to everyone. THe type of answer you might look for in such a case might be "You need to focus on improving your health by eating __________ and doing ________________ so that you can eliminate that pain you felt in your left kidney today at 4:02pm, and that other problem your doctor told you about on October 14th, at 2:45pm."
At the same time I am not saying that you should listen to "readings" if they feel intuitively wrong to you, or just like generic "blabber". I had readings done before which didn't really feel like they "connected", and I've had readings which did connect. I would use your intuition as a guage, rather than the statistical probability of the advice being given to you as being generic.
Keep trying different psychics until you find one that convinces you. It only took 3 readings for me to find the right psychic. Not a very big investment.
