Sometimes breaking out of one's comfort zone can be astonishingly simple. It doesn't have to involve a tremendous amount of risk, personally, professionally or financially. For instance, how many people drive/bus/bike the same route to work every morning? Break it up once in a while by taking a different route. Another suggestion would be to go on a news fast for one week out of the month; no newspapers, magazines, TV or radio news, no CNN.com, etc. Trust me, the world will still be here when you get back.
