Apply this simple rule (repeat after me):
If it sounds to good to be true, it is to good to be true!
(There are a few scarcely documented cases where something sounded to good to be true and then turned out to actually be true, but in general you can't go wrong if you live by this rule)
Another practical rule for online selling: when in doubt, ask them to wire the money to you in advance. That's how I sold a guy in Belgium an old videocard for nearly full price and that's also why I still have the keyboard that some Nigerian told me he would buy from me for twice the original price.
