They will come in a lucid dream if you call them. This has happend for me most of the time. You will be transported somewhere else and you'll be able to communicate. I believe Erin mentioned this techinique in her blog. It's worked for me almost 100% of the time. There was one time where I wasn't completely lucid, it didn't work. The rest though, I was amazed.
I didn't use a name but I jus said "I want to talk to my higher self or spirit guide". Just a tip though, I reccomend talking to the higher self first. He/she is more informative and you can see them in human form. The spirit guides are usually brief, can't really be seen, and sometimes just send you back into the physical plane. However, see what works for you.
