Reseller account is something which is used to resell hosting, to be a hosting provider yourself.

Thanks for that. I do understand that you can have multiple websites without a
reseller account. I should have said that it makes things
easier to manage having a separate control panel for each domain (which reseller accounts come with-most usually
Plesk or
CPanel). A lot of web developers (not just resellers) have reseller accounts simply because if you have bunches of clients websites and lots of domains, they're easier to maintain, check stats, add scripts etc if they're not all crammed onto one control panel!
