I do first person myself, but I usually have much better results if I don't visualize. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but while visualization seems good in the moment, later on I am just more aware that I don't have what I am wanting. So, of course, I continue not to have it.
Putting the intention out there and then forgetting about it seems to work best for me. Detaching doesn't enforce the feeling of not having yet.
I have been playing around with doing very simple visualizations and then attempting to detach ... we'll see how well that works.
