I love the blazing colors of the trees here in Autumn and the sparkly, crispness of a winter night after it's first snowed. I love the way that the tulips and lilacs come back for another try year after year, and the smell of fresh cut grass in the summer. New Englanders are not notoriously friendly though. Sometimes when I'm out walking, I'll say hello to five or six people before I get a hello back.
That made me laugh, because my particular town has turned into a mecca for retirees from the northeast and former northeasterners who had previously retired to Florida and are now fleeing from hurricanes. As a result my little southern town suddenly has a huge Yankee population these days. You can spot them a mile away in a huge crowd because they always look so unhappy and so unfriendly, angry even! It takes a bit of getting used to.........
