One thing I love about where I live is that everyone holds doors for everyone else, regardless of age, gender, race, dress, or any other distinguishing factor, and in the process most everyone smiles and thanks the door holder. It's a simple thing that makes the area feel so much closer, even as thousands of people stream by.
