techniques for shifting attention
Hi. I am trying to achieve my intentions, just like everyone else here. What I know I need work on is shifting my attention. Often times my attention will fall anyway to what I don't want. I can often recognize when I am focusing on what I don't want. What I have trouble with is moving that attention to something I do want. Sometimes it is oddly satisfying to focus on what I don't want. Other times I feel that what I don't want just conjures up more powerful images and sensations that what I do want. So, my question is: what methods do you have for switching your attention from a negative state to a positive state? And which method works best, for you?
