This is also part of my backup strategy for all of my financial papers, etc. I use a truecrypt container to keep a copy of all scanned documents, my current budget, and anything of that ilk. Then whenever I visit relatives/friends in another state, I burn the latest copy, and take it with me. It's secure in that I know that there's no way that they can get into it, and it's secure in that it is not only an off-site backup, but out of state even.
