It's probably not you, Jess. It might be something as simple as a surplus of Vets where you're applying, leaving the ones with no experience not many options. The first job in some fields can be very hard to get.
I'm surprised they won't tell you why you didn't get the jobs. Usually they're courteous enough to at least say "not enough experience" or some other one liner. Maybe it's just some HR person who has no clue who calls you anyway.
