Level1, "The Pleasure Trap" by psychologist Doug Lisle has helped me with this sort of problem.

The book is about how animals have 3 biological drives for survival: the pursuit of pleasure, the avoidance of pain, and conservancy of energy. The author addresses how the taste buds are programmed to be attracted to 3 things: fat, salt, and sugar. He explains how to use this knowledge to help us eliminate our food addictions.

I have found the book to be very helpful. Here is a summary of the concept. Here is a video of a lecture he gave on the topic.

Dr. Neal Barnard also has a good book on this topic. BREAKING THE FOOD SEDUCTION - PCRM Online Marketplace

And by the way, munish, type 2 diabetes is caused by fat--not sugar. Here is a detailed explanation : The McDougall Newsletter February 2004 - Diabetes
