A lot of our 'modern life' hails back to the days when the serfs and plebs were slogging their guts out, providing the wealthy with food and entertainment and sex. Have a read of the lingo and antiquity in constitutions and law.
My town, Port Lincoln, has more millionaires per capita than any where in Australia. I know heaps of them. A lot of them would die before giving a cent to anyone, let alone charity. Not a cent, sorry, not even a scrap. They would throw it away first. One of the most wealthy guy's is one of the most ruthless people I have ever met. Even is own family is a resource, used, discarded, and shattered at will. And his belief is honed from years of dealing with a corrupt communist regime. He escaped from a concentration camp, from the firing squad, like many of his friends there, and he believes dog eat dog, so be the biggest, meanest dog. And he's left a trail of eaten, chewed dogs in his path, as he gets richer, and richer, and richer.
I have my beliefs, I think that there is plenty to go round, that abundance is only limited by our imagination. Before money was invented, what...no abundance? We are so trapped by the idea, the invention of money, its like it is more powerfull than say, the sun, a freebie. I notice what it is in that ruthless guy, that seperates him from his rivals, some who have identical dog eat dog beliefs, but who aren't anywhere near as rich. Also I notice what it is that seperates the wealthy millionaires that are really good people, thoughtfull, caring people, and some of who escaped the identical situation along with the ruthless guy. You hear it over and over, but they are genuinely fearless. They don't hesitate to borrow to the hilt to back themselves, to chuck it all on the line. The interest they pay in a year is more than most people will ever earn. And they seek out wisdom. Many people won't take advice, or can't stand anyone more successfull. These guys seek them out. Hunt them down. But, what stands out most to me is absolutely, unbelievably deluxe imaginations. Ideas that other people think are crazy.
You've probably heard of Makybe Diva. The owner was a tuna fisherman, a really nice guy, and like his mates, loved a punt. One day he realised he loved horse racing, and was sick of giving other people his money, so decided he would get his own horse. The other guys thought he was crazy. He bought some super expensive duds, and was the joke of the tuna boys. Then he sought out the real gun, the best trainer, and went looking for the ultimate horse. When they came across Diva, no one else wanted her...no one wanted her, but the gun urged him to grab her, cheap, that there was something special there. So he did, amidst the howls of laughter. She is Australia's most legendary race horse, shattering records. He now earns so much money through her, that his unbelievable tuna earnings are like pocket money. To take a punt, and mate a stallion with her costs more than most people can imagine let alone make.
The dog eat dog guy is the same. We love joking about what he will do next, its hilarious. Same thing, people think his schemes are crazy. And he just keeps getting richer, and chewing them up on the way.
Richard Branson is the same.
So, on the one hand, there is amasing imagination, unlimited self belief and focus, and total fearlessness, on the other, there is some focus on business and wealth creation, and heaps of focus on praying that the other guy stuffs up, and goes broke, fear, and lack of imagination. Most people couldn't cope with a few hundred million loan, let alone get it. One interest rate jump, and they'd black out. But I guess, when you are sitting in a cell, listening to your friends get shot, waiting your turn, and escape by a freak event, you've seen worse. Going broke is nothing. Big deal.
The question is, knowing that there is worse, can you create that same style of fearless, focused mindset, without needing to be in front of the firing squad. We know that we can. If you can just unleash, nurture and focus your imagination. The greatest gift of all. You are born with it, its totally free. Personal development, and experience teaches us you can. But so many people will tell you you can't, and pray that they are right, doing everything in their power to be right. But as the examples show, doesn't make adent if you don't want it to. You can see a shadow charging through the water straight at you, and be screaming your guts out, waiting to die, every cell pumping like an olympic superstar, and what do you know, a dolphin flies out along side you, wanting to play. You imagined the whole thing, created a whole new mindset.
I reckon we are all really good at it, somepeople just don't want to be, or have been conditioned to believe that they aren't, or to never even realise that they are. Some imagine that they can't do it.
