I'm packing for my goal............... I am packing my suitcase, heading out to reach my goal and thought I would write this as an update and FYI.
Last January I "googled" something that was not personal development but somehow was directed to this site. I was very impressed with what I was reading and the positive feedback on this forum.
I eventually read some of Steve's blogs and remember reading the 30 day trials. At the time I was a pack a day smoker and have been for over 20 years. Although I wanted to quit smoking it was a "someday I'll quit". Well, on February 11th I had my last cigarette and in order not to gain any weight I joined a local running group.
Tonight I am packing and tomorrow I leave for Washington, DC to run my very first Marathon (26.2 miles/42 Kms) with the Marine Corp this Sunday October 28th, (its a different post on why a Canadian registers for her first marathon in the USA with the Marines..........when we have loads of marathons in Toronto). The course itself looks beautiful.....very historical.
I have always received support from everyone on the forum but Tumble has been especially helpful and Sebzzz supportive.
This is a major piece of PD for me to go from a pack a day smoker to a marathon runner in the same year.
My goal is to finish the marathon in the alloted time but I am pleased with myself that I will line up with over 30,000 others knowing that I can do this.
I will keep you posted on hopefully my success but thanks to all of you for your positive energy not only to me but to everyone that visits the forum.
Wish me luck.
A special thanks to Steve & Erin for having this site, it's fabulous. |
